Buying electronics in U.S to use them in India

Post by Return2Home »

Hi

I hope there are lot of members who are looking for an answer same like me. I am planning to buy few electronics here in U.S and use them in India when I move to Hyderabad. As we all know the voltage in U.S and India are NOT the same and buying a step down transformer for each individual electronic is not ideal. So, do we have a solution where I can buy one single transformer or some xxxxx and use all my electronics from U.S with no issues.

Few electronics: DVD Player, BOSE V30 HT, Samsung UN55B8500 LED TV, Kitchen small appliances, Cordless Phone, laptops (I know we do not need a voltage converter but a socket plug that can accept U.S plug will do the job).

Any inputs on this are appreciated.

Thanks!

I had a few things that I needed step dow transformers for. None of these were high end devices - DVD player, Wii, wireless router....got transfomers for about 250Rs a piece and use them as I need them...

The socket plugs that adapt indian sockets to us/british/euro plugs are available freely. Cost about 25 to 100 each.

There is only one danger, a serious one; one can accidentaly plug a 110 volt appliance into a 220 V supply and watch it go up in smoke.

People in this forum have talked about setting up 110V circuits powered by a large capacity transformer for using us appliances.

You can also get a circuit breaker to plug in your device to prevent your electronic device from unpredictable voltage fluctuation.

Hi

Did anyone buy electronics like TV, DVD player etc from http://www.220-electronics.com/?
Are they genuine and reliable?

I was thinking to but things that can be take 220v power to use in India with no stepdown transformer.

Thanks!

Normally those TVs are 110/220 if not, better get those kinds of TV.
It works just plug and play.
Get powerstips / voltage stabilizer without fail.
Which city are you coming to?

Yes, those Tv's are 110/220 V and I wanted to know if 220-electronics is a reliable place to buy. I will be moving to Hyderabad, A.P.

I will buy few powerstrips (Surge Protectors) in U.S and I was thinking of buying voltage stabilizer in Hyderabad. Is this a good idea?

Thanks!
