Calling all chennaites in Gurgaon

Post by aarthif »

hi,

I am a chennai native. My husband and I have r2i very recently (Jan 2007) and have settled in Gurgaon. We are put up in sec-31. As I follow very lil hindi, so far the transition has been extremely difficult for me. Can someone help me by recommending some good south-indian resturants/ grocery shops/ agencies which will provide tamil-speaking maid/ driver.
Also, would love to catch up on all your experiences in settling down here in Gurgaon. Thanks.

aarthif... vanakkam and welcome to gurgaon... it is indeed very difficult to survive in gurgaon without hindi... but in few months things will be better, in the sense u will get used to the situation here....:-)
i myself know only lill hindi..

For, south indian restaurants, i know one place called Coco-Palms in Galleria Market.. in the Sahara mall u shall get some south indian food in Haldirams restaurant...If u really carve for a better south indian food, go to delhi and have it in Saravana Bhaavan (connaught place)

I don't think it is easy to get tamil speaking maids/servants.....

For south indian groceries, i don't know what u mean.. everything should be available in big bazar, vyapar kendra markets, but u are looking for something specific indicate them in the forum and will let u know...

sorgame endralum athu nam ooru pola varuma!!!

Vanakkam vanakkam - very glad to see yr reply. Thanks for all the references. Will try out coco -palms and I didn;t know you get idly, dosa in Haldirams. Great!

By South-indian groceries - i meant idly rice , sambar onions , and stuff like that. I actually found a store in DLF phase v (sort of near galleria market) y'day - a store owned by a malyalee called Balaji stores.
Yeah , the rest of grocery stuff is much better in Needs , big bazaar, spencers...

Thanks again ! Keep up the emailing!!

cool- we are also chennaites and in the process of R2I to Gurgaon. I am already here and my wife and son are taking a break in Chennai. We have some of the same issues with Hindi ( though I am not sure if they are speaking in Hindi or something else here !! )...
drop me a note to paddixgmail.com - would love to sync up.....
