Hi,

Any response to the query below might be helpful -

( I am on H1 and I am a US resident for tax purpose. My wife is an Indian Citizen and she in US since Mar 2011. Before 2011, she has never been to US.
Before coming to US, she worked in Germany in 2008. In Germany they had withheld her Social Security money during that time. Now in 2011, she was able to get a refund of that amount about 1500 Euro.
Since this money was deducted from her paycheck's during 2008 in Germany, would this Soc Sec refund be treated as Income for US tax reporting purpose for the year 2011.
Please advise. )

Thanks

Thanks

Hi,
I am working here in US (staus India citizen, for taxable purpose resident alien), my family has moved back to India this year. My wife and my daugher are not US citizen where as my son is US citizen. So far I have filed taxes as MFJ which I believe that I can do next year as well.
But I have to update W4 information at work, can I claim my son as one dependent or not? Please let me know. Thanks,
