I have been looking up and reading reviews online on LED/LCD TVs for about a year now and still not certain with all the options available.
I have about $800 - $900 to spend and looking for a 46inch LCD/LED TV.(definitely not looking for anything much bigger)
Looks like 47inch Vizio is in my range. Any suggestions on this brand?
The following options are important to me:
1. Being able to connect to my laptop and stream TV channels(wired or wireless)
2. Being able to play off of a media card(not needed but would be nice).
3. TV that would at-least last 6-7 years(not sure about having to buy warranty)
4. Netflix widget(unless am able to connect to netflix thro' blueray player)

Not sure if I am too late to reply on this one as this post is from over 3 weeks before.
I have a 46 inch Samsung LED tv (bought it last year in june 2009) for $1300. You might be able to get a Vizio or Sharp LED TV in that range.

LED TVs are pretty to look at, but there is no fundamental change in the display technology. The change is only in the backlighting. Most LEDs still suffer from decreasing black levels as you sit at an angle other than 90 degrees to the screen. This is where plasma still outshines LCD or even LED, IMO. I bought a Panasonic 50" TC-P50X1 last year for only 800, 1/2 the price of an LED. the picture is great from any angle, and there is no image retention or motion blur. the 2010 model is TC-P50C2.

I haven't noticed any decreasing black levels. The 'thin' factor with LEDs won me over...

I do not know if it is too late on this one.
We have moved to India end of Dec 2008 and we have been using Vizio LCD TV up until now. Recently we started to see some flickering on TV, which has gotten worse to the point that we cannot watch TV anymore. We did some web search on Vizio TV problems and apparently Vizio has some capacitor problems which leads to flickering.
We are trying to find out if we can repair the TV.
Google for Vizio flickering before you make your decision.

We are moving in a couple of months...Is it worth carrying a LED LCD TV from here. I have not planned to carry any electronics but can change my mind if it is worth the hassle...We are using a full 20ft container for shipping..

If you are shipping container then it makes sense to carry TV. 50 inch and higher are justified. Sharp and Vizio are known to support PAL. Vizio is known to support 240VAC. As a causion you should carry a PAL video source (typically a camera/camcorder/iPhone with mode set to PAL) to test model of interest. If you are not worring about PAL compatibility then you will need a converter. Someone reported to have NTSC top boxes from Indian Cable compies I mean TATASKY and likes.

Thanks!
I can fit only a 40 - 42" TV so anything higher than that is not an option. Is VIZIO a good TV? Can I buy like a LG TV in India instead of buying Vizio from here and paying the 35% duty?

A 40" would be fine for India. Actually 32" would be more ideal for India where all channels are standard (SD) and not HD. So it can be a strain for the eyes. You can get a 40" for 500 bucks if you go to sams club/costco. Add 35% duty. It comes to 35k rupees. I think a 40" in India is around 65k or more.
