In nutshell it appears having structured plan with clear goals, trying to get visibility at higher level by exceeding boss expectation, with bit of luck.

Continuing on the same topic...what do you guys think about success as a individual. While reading article few years back when someone is on death bed what matters most the people who are with him/her and quality of relationship.

Looking at overall what defines success for individual(not just professionally) and how you are striving to achieve it?
