Can you please let me know how tough is it to get Singapore perm residency? I will greatly appreciate if you can give me some info. I started looking online but wanted to know first hand info.
Thanks R2IKyon.
mohanlatha;258712Hi, I am a USC planning to move to Singapore for personal reasons. Let's say I decide to live there for next 20 yrs (may be for good), what will happen to my USA citizenship ? Do I have to forgo/renounce that ? What are my options ?
Singapore has a huge problem with locals disliking (too many) foreigners and some of the recent gov policies reflect that. Permanent Residency has been tightened so much that getting it seems to be very difficult for foreigners nowadays
This is partly due to the upcoming elections (2011 or 2012)
There is increasing distinction introduced between citizens and PRs - primarily PRs are made to pay more for everything
Car prices are once again heading into stratosphere. A minimum budget for a Camry is around USD100K
Housing prices have jumped like 30-50% (2008 base) and I suspect it might end in US style crisis. Foreigners (on Employment Pass) can only buy condominiums (USD 700k-1m). Cheaper Housing Board flats are only for PR/Citizens
So think your moves carefully.
PS: And Singapore seems to be keen to turn into Sin City with Swiss style secretive banking, two Casinos etc
Singapore has reached its target population of 5m. Now a days they are rejectiing almost all PR applications even for those who are working there more than 3 yeras with good pay and experience.
(I am an ex-singaporean and Singapore was the one of easiest country to get PR in good old days)
