My roller coaster ride ...
I think this happened way back in 2003 or 2004. He was a new friend at my work. We were chatting over phone when the returning-to-India topic came up. We both said that we wanted to return and we were so emotional about it. And then he mentioned that there was a forum where people discussed returning-to-India topic and he gave me the MSN address for the R2I club. As soon as I returned to my comp, I pulled up the R2I club website, went through the threads and felt like "OMG, how did I miss this!". That was the beginning of an addiction which stayed for ever!
This is not a R2I diary as R2I might never happen for me. I'm neither sad nor happy about it. There are too many roadblocks on my way to R2I. Probably I'm destined not to R2I. This blog is mainly for sharing my random thoughts and experiences. Probably it will help me look at myself more closely.
I have benefited a lot from this forum. There is a wealth of information here. People's experiences and perspectives have always interested me and you can find them aplenty here. I'm so grateful to all the folks here. Thanks to RRK, for taking the initiative to move this forum from MSN to here. Thanks to Desi for making sure that sense and fairness prevail in this forum. Thanks to the docs Cabo, Dr.Ortho, Rajradio, Sumachechi, Towardshome and others for being so helpful. Thanks to all the regulars of this forum like Ambhi, BacktoDesh, Billyblue, Boca2blr, Brownie, Chakraan, Dbs, Desi2Rerturn, Dixit, Drb, Farfomehome, Gujju, Gutsygibbon, Hyderabadi, ImissIndia, Jani, Kahlorivera, Kirks, Lakshya, Layman, LoveIndia, Lively, Maya, MINF, Mn_op, MyRoots, Nyc2ncr, Oasis, Okonoimi, Oldspice, PG, Poofygoogle, R2i2005, R2imumbai, R2iMyOldWorld, Raresha3, Rbee, Rimjhim, Srinpo, Suyog, Tinu, Triveni and Vapasi. I just listed the names I could remember. Forgive me for the missed names.

Sorry, I've been traveling and so it took a while to reply. I'm in Indian now visiting my parents and siblings.
oasis138;477545You might have shared this earlier or might not like to but if you can what are some of the road blocks ?In short, the kids are in teens, wify is very hesitant, kids say a big no, not-so-good savings and lately I'm hesitant too. I should have R2Ied two years back. I was all set and had a lot of hopes for an internal transfer through my company. But it was a rude shock when they said they wouldn't transfer. My company has good presence in India but my group (department) is not so much in favor of offshoring to India which is something I learned only later. Anyway I applied to our Indian subsidiary directly through contacts but they had a sort of a freeze and so nothing clicked. And then it became too late for school admissions and so I stopped following up.

Candide and Pangloss are two characters from a french play by Voltaire. Candide suffers a lot and eventually comes to the conclusion that one has to do what one has to do. On the other hand, the character Professor Pangloss can observe whatever and come to the conclusion, "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candide
