My US Tax returns- R2I Jul 2010

Post by chandhramohan »

Hi Experts,
I need your help for filing US Tax returns FY 2010. I stayed in US from Nov-2008 to Jul 2010 on L1 Visa and I'm working for same Indian firm from Jul 2010 and pay Taxes in India. I received my W2 FY 2010 from US employer.
Do I need to consider any Indian Income (Aug-Dec 2010) while I file taxes in U.S or just consider W2 wages.
India Income if any needs to be considered , can I use Turbo tax for filing 1040 form return for the same?

Thanks for answering my questions :).

Regards
Mohan

Hi Mohan,

Since you stay in US is more than 182 days for the year 2010, you will be considered as Resident of USA and will be reporting the Global Income for the year 2010. Hence your India income for the period July to Dec 2010 will also be offered to tax in USA. You will be eligible for the Foreign tax credit on the India income if you have paid any taxes to the Indian Government.

We provide assistance in both USA and India tax filings from Pune. You can send us an email with more details on [email protected] or visit us at www.kkassociate.com

KKA
