Name format in OCI form

Post by dbs »

plan4home;690769Hello,

I am confused as to how parents name and grandparents name should be entered in the ckgs oci application forms for my son's oci application.

Should it be surname first and then given name or the opposite? In my passport there are 2 separate fields for my surname and given name, but for my parents name it is altogether (surname given name). Please help. Thanks.

I would suggest that it be in the order the parents name appear in the id document. That makes it easier for the process and less confusing.

Parents names are printed in Last page. In my case parents surname was given first and then given name in my passport and in my kid OCI. In India, some states write surname/last name first. But in first page of passport and OCI it clearly given two Separate options.

It does not matter since it is parents name in last page. Just give Surname Givenname for parents names.

Thanks both of you. From both your replies it is clear to me that my parents name should be in surname given name format, as that is how it is shown in last page of my passport.

However, for me and my wife's name, in our passports there are separate fields for surname and given name. The surname field is first and then the given name. In the ckgs website in the family details section it just asks for father's name and mother's name, no separate fields for surname and given name. So here should we also put in surname given name format? later in the ckgs form in the parental consent form, it asks for parents name but there it has separate fields for surname and given name, so no confusion there. Kindly suggest. Thanks a lot for your help.

Just give right things where ever separate surname and givenname fields are there. In All other places(without separate fields), just give surname space givenname for parents name. Don’t make it complicated.
