I was reading CNN earlier today and happen to see this article. This question is for individuals living in Australia, what is it about Indians that is annoying them as much. I know that ad also says Asians, but there is something about Indians that is aggravating them.

Looks like you have a problem with comprehension!
If somebody says that they don't want Indians, then we need to know the reason! The reason could be racist or whatever! But member dell wants to know why. He/She did not say that Indians have a problem.

This is really sad...what other reason could be to exclude a whole nationality and race from an employment opportunity....c'mon wake up....It is really sad that when it comes to any small issues (such as people not standing in queue) in India, India bashing continues wholeheartedly without any analysis on the root cause. However if something like this happens in a Western Country, the root cause has to found out, analyzed and then correct the behaviors of Indians to suit their white overlords

I agree that, whatever the reason might be, it is wrong! I'm glad the govt. is responding to these activists and steps have been taken.

So, what do you think about those matrimonial advertisements in India where there is a demand for "fair skinned" grooms or brides? Also, what is your take on those rental advertisements where owners prefer a particular race or religion or even a demographic?

Wondering what that has got to do with the ad not wanting Indians and Asians.

I was wondering if it was, in addition to bigotry, a result of typical anti-immigrant sentiments. I doubt it. It was purely bigoted ad and has nothing to do with Indians or Asians, but only to do with that company and the person(s) who put that ad.

Is there something about Indians? No and one needn't bother in the context of this ad.

There is something about those that put the ad. Period. Good that it was nipped in the bud and condemned.

Dude, why this comparison with India. I feel the issues you mentioned is wrong to some extent, but how does it make the issue in Australia any better. Regarding matrimonial preference, if some people like fair skinned groom its their personal preference and nobody should have any say on that. I have heard white people say openly that they do not date non whites. Rental discrimination is something I feel strongly against too. I feel that makes India a more ghettoized place.

Though I disapprove this Add, but I am more interested about your view towards white. You must have some not so good encounter with them. Please share with us. Just curious why our experience/view are so different when it appears geographically we are living in 10 miles radius.

OP (dell) asked a question rhetorically. He didn't mean to say there was anything wrong with Indians. He is baffled what is it about Indians that annoys Australians.
E.g. A likes Mexican food and B hates it. A asks C what is it about Mexican food that B hates it so much. That does not mean A hates Mexican foot too.
Like PG said it looks like a comprehension issue to me.

Anyways, let me take a wild guess - Could it be because Indians in Australia are doing better (assuming they are) than average Australian economically during these hard economic times or because India beat them in ICC World cup? Or something else?
