Hi All,
Can anyone share some experience if they have had in finding jobs in India thru Silicon India job fairs. I would like to visit the next one coming up in April in santa clara. I have no prior experience and what can be expected and any such inputs will be helpful.

I heard of some friends going to the fair two years back. They say it was a great place to make contacts, if you are returning to India in the next few months.

They are ok. You need to attend a couple of them to make real good contacts. Use the following websites.

1. naukri.com
2. monsterindia.com
3. jobsahead.com
4. timesjob.com

See the job titles and talk to the recruiters over the phone. This will help you to get more chances from recruited on the job opportunities.

My friend attended this last year. He mentioned that the number of companies that show up is much less than the number of logos posted on the web site.

Mostly the big local ones like Cisco show up and tend to refer all questions on opportunities to their corporate web site. He mentioned that some of these companies are not even aware of the opportunities at their Indian branches.

All in all, he mentioned that you can expect to see 6-8 companies and it is better to visit their websites and see, if they actually have opportunities that match your skill set and experience.

I think the jobs board on this group is much better then shelling out 20$+ to goto these events.
