College admissions - share your recent experiences
Congratulations to the student and parents...that is awesome line up for CS/Comp.Biology and excellent merit scholarships too. She cant go wrong with any of them - even if she chooses one of them by a random lottery she is still ahead by a mile :). CMU is for sure in the league ...

College admissions - share your recent experiences
Dear Members, Now that 2019 college admissions are all done I am looking for some help with making our daughter's college decision. She wants to pursue CS / Comp. Bio and has gotten into a few good schools - the good part is having all these choices but the hard part is in picking the one place to ...

R2I - What's the top item that's preventing you
Feel reasonably comfortable from a financial standpoint but higher education of kids is a big concern based on experiences of family members (nephew) and when seeking opinions from other firends.

R2I-R2A....R2I thoughts
Oh well, it is what it is. I just wish I did not have the dilemma and wished I was more strong in my conviction when I headed down there. 2 of my friends who left around the same time seems to have made out very well back in India but they do have the US citizenship unlike ...

Work remotely for US firm in India when firm has no Indian operations
I recently R2I'ed to India . While in the US I had my own S Corp and consulted for a few US clients thru my S Corp. Now that I am in India and continue to provide my services to US clients I was considering closing the S Corp and starting a Pvt Ltd firm in India that would directly bill US client ...

MT: All Questions on taking TV to India - LCD, NTSC, PAL, 110V
Well, if its on the way you don't have a choice I guess :wink but here some good news . After not getting a definite answer when I called SONY I tried the e mail route from their online Support and this time around after a couple of exchanges I received some positive feedback from SONY. I mailed ...

MT: All Questions on taking TV to India - LCD, NTSC, PAL, 110V
I just wanted to get some opinion regarding the power label on the SONY 55" HX800 that I bought recently at Costco. I called SONY Tech Support but as expected they did not know the specifics and remained non-committal whether this Model supports 240V or not. Based on ...

TV - I think I got it right !!
I visited my local costco and fortunately this time around they let me test the TV with my DSLR camera video. I checked a bunch of models from SHARP / SAMSUNG / VISIO / SONY but almost all only supported 110 V power input. 55" SONY KDLHX800 does support 110 ~ 240 50/60 Hz Power so one issue is taken ...

TV - I think I got it right !!
Not trying to discourage anyone here but I have been doing research for a while now on TV's and still un-decided:p but here's my 2c. You can't just go by model numbers in US and India as mentioned in the first posting for SONY. They are probably the same globally. But what is different is the "real ...

Be careful on the power voltage with SONY's. I would suggest to visit a store and turn the TV around to see what the label says. I was at a Costco last night to checkout 55" EX711 and was surprised to see that it only supports 120 v power input. I checked out a NX 46" as well and found the same ...
