Many of us think of retiring to India and not working when we are still (relatively) young. I have seen people die quickly, when there's nothing much to do I can think of getting involved in social activities, non-profit, even small for profit functions etc., but are these things sustainable? what ...

If you had $2M, could you retire well in the USA and have the same comforts as in R2i described in this thread? this assumes you are USC and dont have other emotional reasons to go to India

While I don't know the "recent" India well (lot has changed in the last 15 years and my visits have been a few and short)

I thought India was expensive, but it was interesting to see a lot of folks in this thread talk abt India as cheap.
