tuberculosis and plura effusion - calling all doctors, urgent please

Yes, I had to have local anasthesia every time as it was a painful process (by which I mean not excruciating like childbirth, but moderately painful). Each time the draining took about an hour or so, as far as I can recall. Perhaps you could get a second opinion just to be sure that this is the ...

tuberculosis and plura effusion - calling all doctors, urgent please

I suffered from pleural effusion about ten years ago, though luckily it was not TB. I cannot remember all the details of the treatment, but I did have to undergo draining which was under local anasthesia. There were several sessions over the course of about 10 months. I also took antibiotics. I was ...

Parents versus In-laws

Unfortunately many Indian families still believe that the son should look after his parents, but daughters should desert theirs. I am in a situation where my inlaws live with their daughter perfectly happily ( in the town they grew up in, with lots of friends and no language issues or cultural ...

Dilemma: Sole breadwinner wants to leave his job and take a year off

Nattusb, thanks for your apology, but don't take it so much to heart. I would have not posted here if I wasn't looking for blunt reactions as well as sugarcoated ones. Don't worry about it at all. Thanks also to all those who have posted. Am taking a break from this now, but will post an update soon.

Dilemma: Sole breadwinner wants to leave his job and take a year off

This is all getting rather ridiculous. Thanks for everyone's support, but I have no intention of complaining to admins. This is the internet and I am thickskinned enough to take criticism. NattusB, you may find contradictions in my story, but life is full of contradictions, is it not? My husband was ...

Dilemma: Sole breadwinner wants to leave his job and take a year off

NattusB, you are entitled to your opinion. However, I am not making my dilemma up. You may choose to believe it or not, but my husband last year actually applied for teaching jobs in the salary range you mention,( rs 4 lakh a year) but was rejected because he does not have a Phd. The ony job he was ...

Dilemma: Sole breadwinner wants to leave his job and take a year off

I take your point, Beeamma, and it is well made. I'd just like to point out that along with the middle class lifestyle, I might also have to accept a long distance relationship, as after conversations with headhunters, it looks like there are precious few opportunities in Bangalore. Apparently ...

Dilemma: Sole breadwinner wants to leave his job and take a year off

A few responses: (1) I said the savings will be enough for one year or MORE. How much more is hard to calculate because he says he might want to quit the corporate world and start his own business, which might need capital. I'd rather not go into more details, but I appreciate that this is more than ...

In Dilemma:My heart says "YESSS"....Mind says "WHOA!!" Is R2I for me?

I don't want to rain on your parade but have you considered the much longer working hours in India, the absolute lack of any work-life balance in most fields, and the long commute times? You may not have time to see your own family, or the extended family. As you have never worked in India, perhaps ...

Dilemma: Sole breadwinner wants to leave his job and take a year off

[QUOTE=spartan;319368]After reading this thread title once again and its tone, I can tell your husband will be stressed even more while he takes a year off, due to the repurcussions ,the 'friendly' home environment while looking for new avenues and the guilt accompanied . He may start liking his ...
