Tax on money gifted from India to US

Is there any limit on the amount of money that can be sent by relatives from India as a gift to US by cheque or wire transfer? Would there be any tax involved on both sides?

How much do we spend LIA per month!

I also use Quicken as I feel safer off-line. Some expenses are fixed every month like mortgage, insurance, daycare etc. Others like sudden trip to ER or fixing roof due to hurricanes we have to dip into emergency funds. What one has to spend one has to but it helps to keep a track.

I am impressed by people who live on $2000 or less. I assume one needs $5000-$6000 per month to live normally. Not living like the Kardashians or like a scrooge. My breakdown per month for a family of 4 would be as follows: 1. Rent ~$1500 or Mortgage+Ins+propertytax~2000-3000 or more 2. Groceries ...

Shopping for Indian clothes in Pune

Hello,
Can someone please tell me the best places to shop for salwar-kurtas, kurtis etc in Pune? Where can I get reasonably priced kurtas, lahengas etc for kids..Kids outgrow clothes so fast, I don't want too pricey ones...Any suggestions would be appreciated.
