R2I - Should I take a break?
Agreed. His options are either to relocate to India or bring his family back to USA. Living separately is not an option.

R2I - Should I take a break?
1. Unfortunately not. You will have to push on at least until 55 years on US salary to get into a more comfortable retirement scenario. 2. I don't think so. At your age taking a break and getting back into the workforce with a new employer will be challenging to say the least. 3. A big No. I don't ...

Year Long vacation?
You have covered school and housing. Overall no major issues with your plan. What about your job(s)? I am assuming you are able to take the year long vacation and deplete some savings and recover from year 2 onwards when you will either start working in India or on R2A. Since your kids are still at ...

Within a couple of years, you have already felt the pull to R2I. With your mindset (i.e affinity to Live in India, btw nothing wrong with this either), it will be be a daily grind if you decide to apply for GC and live in the States. Please R2I asap as othewise you will be sucked into the GC, USC ...

Almost Home - R2Iing from Southeast USA to Chennai
Your father hit the nail on the head and his views are bang on target. You cannot compare our views and ways of thinking with our kids born in US who have a different perspective. I would love to R2I but even I don't feel that I am up to it now after living abroad for 17 years. Anyways the dilemma ...

A 1000 mile journey
You need to get past the Job challenge in India. Otherewise your combined 300k salary in US will make you doubt your R2I thoughts. Its actually a non starter in my opinion. Both of you have worked hard to get to this salary level and you need to cash in for atleast a few more years of this good ...

Mumbai is disgusting
I agree with OP. I was a on a 3 week business trip to Mumbai after staing 1 month in Chennai at my parents house. I was tottaly appalled at the filth and unclean facilities, roads etc. Just open garbage every where. I agree that no city in India is immune to this but Mumbai was totally in a ...

R2i are we there yet!!!
OP - Please tell us that you were kidding? Have you heard of the term "FORECLOSURE"??? Get on with life. You just put your family and your self through this R2I and back to R2A just because you were not able to sell your house. Life is too short to be making just drastic decisions just because of ...
