You should try a financial consultant or an online retirement calculator. Amounts depend on years, inflation percent etc. Life is just too complicated to plan for decades ahead.

1.5L * 12 = 18L + 25% taxes = 23L approx. 3 Crores in FD at 9% interest should do it. Now you have to consider inflation.

Although I didnt understand many of the numbers in the article, what stood out was "Ooty". What a garbage place !!! I was there last summer and there is no mountain left behind. Everything has been dug up and sold. And it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DIRTY.
