I applied for surrender certificte at NY CGI ,in person , on May 22nd i.e., 2 weeks before. Till date I haven't received my certificates or passport which I requsted to be mailed to my address. There is absolutely no response from the consulate for any e-mails. No one answers any phone any longer ...

If some one is keeping track of the requirements to surrender the Indian passport on New York consulate web site, one can see that they are changing the form almost on dialy basis! I really wonder if they are even serious about this apart from the fee portion of it! And we wonder why we are not ...

Does any one know who has to fill the second part ,sign and send copy of the passport? does it have to be a different person who is an Indian national?

Also does minors also fill in this and send $175 per person.

looks like Indian republic is working like BANANA republic to make some fast bucks:(

missed informing IRS of1099-INT

When I filed 2007 tax this time I missed out on $18 which I received as interest from the bank. this happened as I didn't receive 1099-INT form the bank in time.
Do I need to file an amended return for this small amount?Any views on this isuue?

Thanks for the replies.
We spoke to a social worker and she is of the opinion that we should contact an attorney.At this point we have decided to keep all the options open and contact an attorney through 1-800-Attorney.I think future course could emerge once we get to speak to an Attorney
