MT: Forex, Money Transfer to India services, exchange rates
Hello folks, I went through the money to India threads but could not reach a conclusion from them as to which method is the best. I used ICICI money2india and timeofmoney remit2india so far with fairly decent results. I tried to do HDFC Quickremit but they will not verify my bank account unless I ...

Home loans - India
Hello friends, I would like to make a pre-payment on my ICICI home loan. How do I do it? Do I have to go to India and meet with the manager there to complete the transaction? Has anyone done this? I see no way to make extra payments online at the ICICI site. Please let me know this ASAP. Thanks.

Hi folks, I recently begain to take interest in starting a small business or buying and running a franchise here in the US. I looked at Dunkin Donuts for their franchise opportunities. I was surprised to note that they require a new franchisee to operate 5 stores and to have an asset base of 1 ...

My silly finance question !
RRK, I already have a rollover IRA at Vanguard. But I am unable to invest in ETFs in it. Does it mean this IRA was opened as a Vanguard mutual fund account? Is it possible to change the account so that I can invest in non-Vanguard funds? Do I have to open a new IRA in order to do so? Does Fidelity ...

My silly finance question !
Desi, I am confused. I did try to invest in MINDX through my IRA at Vanguard and was told that I cannot do it. I had to open a taxable brokerage account to invest in this fund. Which I did. Similarly I did not find a way to invest in FXI/FACTS in my IRA. So when you say a brokerage account can be an ...

My silly finance question !
Vanguard does not offer these funds in their IRAs. Why is that? They want you to open brokerage accounts to invest in them. Where else is it possible to invest in these funds in IRA accounts? Since from this year on, I will fall into the 33% tax marginal rate, I would really like to invest in these ...

Solo-401K for self-employed: Any one using it?
Hi friends,
Does anyone have experience investing in a solo-401K for self-employed people? If so, could you share some details on its advantages, ease of setup, etc.. Also how does it figure in the R2I scenario?
Thanks.

New SEP-IRA when traditional IRA exists?
Oh! I did not know an employed person could contribute to a traditional IRA. Even if that person has no 401k at work. Perhaps I have been wrong all along. But does it make sense to contribute to the traditional IRA than to the SEP IRA for a self-employed person? Aren't the contribution limits much ...

New SEP-IRA when traditional IRA exists?
My wife was a homemaker until this year. Therefore she had a traditional IRA until now. She has now started to work as an independent contractor. We would like to open a SEP-IRA for her. Can she have both the SEP and the traditional IRA open simultaneously? If so, where is a good place to open a SEP ...
