US Economic collapse - A mathematical certainity?
US is the most dominant economic, military, and cultural power relative to the rest of the nations in the history of mankind. Can you think of a single power that is as dominant at any time in history? All the problems US faces are relatively minor when compared to either the ...

Prosper Lending and Borrowing - Loans

Desi, when you got the 1099, did you notice the "service charge". It is a small amount for me, but might be high in your case. I remember last year some one on the prosper forum was able to take that deduction, but if I remember correctly one had to itemize. I didn't follow up on that since I used ...

Techie kills wife and then commits suicide

"A suicide note has revealed that the techie suspected his wife of having an extra marital affair and also had reservations about her working late nights." So this guy suspected his wife and killed her and himself. Nice going. Sad for her, she was married to a jerk who ...
Thanks again! I thought there were restrictions on how much a bank could lend...If a bank has $1 Billion reserves, it could lend out only $800 Million or so. :)
Actually it is more like if you have 1B, you can loan 9B. Success stories in reducing Cholesterol / Triglycerides

CD, good to hear that. Also encouraging to hear that you took 3 tabs at once and it does help. My problem is religiously taking 3 tabs a day. I invariably forget one or two every single day. I might do that multiple tabs at once strategy from today.

Learning Tamil made compulsory in Tamil Nadu !

Why does it matter either which way? If Tamil is compulsory in schools and I have big kids, I will make a calculated decision to not migrate there if I think it will be tough for my kids. That is probably true in any other state in India. If I think my prospects are good in TN, then I'd like my kids ...

Article: Don't buy into dollar cost averaging

KRV, Some years ago in the MSN forum, some one mentioned a website where you could select a month in time (or a date I don't remember which) and see if dca or lumpsum was better. They also stated that for the most part (may be 70% or more) lumpsum was better. But FEAR is a very powerful emotion ...

Questions on I Bonds

RRK, with the interest rates at ING, Emigrant and other such banks much lower than the TD rates, TD is looking good now. Inflation is inching higher, so look for good rates in May. I can't believe these idiots are curbing it to just 5K per individual investor.

2008 US Presidential Election

An MSN Money article about Obama - http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/Extra/IsObamaBadForBusiness.aspx The title is as usual sensational, but if you read the article it gives a small idea about his voting history regarding to economics/business. Don't know how much is rhetoric ...
