$ depreciation against INR
I am not disputing that this Rs 20/dollar theory is quite far fetched. But back then in 2001/2, when somebody came up with the $640K formula, it looked quite far fetched too. Now it seems like the reality. At $10/barrel for oil, CNBC analysts were saying that pretty soon water would be more ...

$ depreciation against INR
What I have heard from the local banking channels (ICICI Bank/HDFC Bank) is that since growth has been projected atleast until 2025, there is a very good chance that the Indian rupee will hit Rs 20 mark by the year 2020. One really wonders who comes up with these sort of predictions. But if this ...

MT: World Cup Cricket 2007 & Poll
The REAL culprit to India's failure in the last 2 years of so has always been SRT. Look up Sehwag, the poor chap performs identically against Aus/SA and Bangladesh/Zimbabwes. He averages 27 all the way. SRT, Dhoni, et al pad their averages on home grown pitches and against weaker opposition ...
Regarding #9: Please feel free to read #7 again which states that FIFO is not required to be used across demat accounts. In #9, since the trading is done via a separate account, you are required to use FIFO within that account.
>> This is correct. When I hold RIL in 2 ...
In US you can do lot identification with demat account. If FIFO is the only method allowed, how do I handle these events. I own 50 shares of RIL, I sell 10 on a particular day in the morning and buy it back on the same day evening. ( Cover the short). These transaction is not ...
Bobus, When you answer my question, in the first part you said only FIFO is allowed,
>>> Right RRK. Since I hold only demat (i.e., in the electronic form) only FIFO is allowed. That is probably why my Auditor said "NO" for LOT identification to maximize/minimize profits ...

RRK: As per my knowledge, Indian law is such that sales can be adjusted only on a FIRST-IN-FIRST-OUT basis. Atleast, this is the method that my auditor has religiously followed in the last couple of years. I asked him about LOT identification a few years back, he said "NO". Based on my ...

First option gives: 30 * $178,957 = 5.368710 million dollars Second option gives: 2 ^ (30 - 1) * .01 = 5.36870912 million dollars So I guess the answer is (c) Both the options above are "almost" the same PS. I used the MS calculator (scientific option x ^ y) that come with the OS - not the Excel ...

For an experienced investor, I would say that the real choice lies between an Actively managed mutual fund vs Picking your own stocks, certainly not an Active vs Passive Mutual Fund debate. Atleast that's my take on this. ! The only time I delve into Mutual Funds is for ...
