Anyone know about Haridwar (Uttaranchal) area?

It's a very peaceful city to live with low cost of living though it is increasing with time. I've spent good amount of time(~10 yrs) over there once. Schools are one of the bests, for homes, you can get single familty home w/3-4 bedrooms in about 40Lakhs. Facilities are OK, for buying general stuff ...

Staying in SF bay area

Very good points, Tweedledee. For friend circle, somehow I do not feel 'connected' to the US friends that we made afetr coming here, it may be just us or may be more general..My feeling is that people become more 'formal' after coming here..we meet wih people once or twice a month but do not feel ...

Staying in SF bay area

Culture --US vs India

[quote=babuvrr;34484]Agreed. But it will be redundant. There is no absolute right or wrong in this world. What ever majority follows, that is correct. Follow the masses. So, our culture is good for us and their culture is good for them. Enjoy other's culture once in a while, like sinful country (Is ...

Culture --US vs India

I could not dis-agree more on "What ever majority follows, that is correct. Follow the masses" 'Sati' was followed by masses in India at one time, was it correct? Hell no! I agree with Neesha's point, people like us r2i to aviod facing unknowns..that unknown might be good for us but anything unknown ...

Culture --US vs India

Babuvrr, Now I'm starting to doubt if those are your real thoughts or you're just trying to see how people react to 'old-aged' thoughts :-) seriously..even people in India, who never came outside India, have changed views regarding this subject.. It's not controlling about bull or cow...it's ...

Culture --US vs India

I do see value in desi_perdesi's post. people move for other reasons then culture and education being one of them--completely agree. but there are people who do claim they're moving for cultural reasons...I agree that education, at least acedemically, is much more in India as compared to US and that ...

Culture --US vs India

Hi, understand that it is going to be a controversial subject though I've no intention to offenend anyone or hurt anyone's feeling--I'm looking for a healthy intellectual discussion on this topic. Reasons people R2I are: 1. Aging Parents 2. Sense of beloning. 3. Giveing Indian culture to kids. I ...

Before R2I - Keep Indian Citizenship or take US Citizenship ?

Thanks VS007 and Ace Novice. That thread was very helpful. Though my real concern that other thread does not seem to cover is that if there any issue regarding getting part time\teaching job if you're not INC and on OCI? (I'm trying to get away from that high stress\time consuming job of IT field ...
