But I don' think it is that simple for GOI to tax 401k or IRA. All said and done there is a dual taxation treaty The US goverment is encouraging savings in IRA to offset Social Security. Also there was talk of creating provate acounts with social security. I think it's a legal hairball for GOI to ...

For what it's worth, I would not width-draw IRA or 401k unless you need the money. There does not seem to be a clear decision anywhere by GOI on taxation of a 401k or IRA
