Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?
TK is a masterpiece in Tamil. Its a waste of time comparing it to Shakespeare or Mahabharata. In fact what Mahabharata accomplishes in such a long poem was encapsulated 2660 lines in TK. I'm sure you would agree that brevity itself is an accomplishment of sorts right ...

Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?
I consider TK to be great for multiple reasons (1) It is 2000 yrs old and what is written in it is applicable today, 2000 yrs ago and all these 2000 yrs. (2) It does not refer to Ram or Jesus or Alla or Budha. It is respected by Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Budhists, Jains ...

Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?

I understand the strong feelings for TV(if one such a person existed). From TK all i understood was TV only loved a debate not a fight for approval. Never did TV said bow down to me or only this is right etc., He suggested indulgence route and exit route for everything. ie., how to play the game ...

Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?

Desi, Once again i apolagise for putting you thro it, aswell as thank you very much for going thro it.... Its not the advice or the suggestion that matters, but the ability to run it through within us and seeing that where "yours" or "my" idea falls is called character, its not in actions its in the ...

Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?
Whose morals? Don't morals change with people, time and culture? For example I see nothing immoral in gambling and drinking. Re prostitution and womanizing, it is a little longer topic and I have put forth my views on one of this in my blog thread. I think if it resonates with ...

Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?

Desi i appreciate your persistence and the guts in debates. I come across very few people who last a few rounds in debates..(that to such topics as TK). I would like to address your pov within a universal thumbrule and put ourselves through it. This will help us see what we wish for others is same ...

Thirukural - Great work or nothing great?
To me Thirukural seems to be a combination of Moral Science + Community Living both of which I studied in high school. I still do not understand why it is revered.
exactly thats all... people are just passionate or get little carried away ofcourse for a reason ...
