Is it worth shipping my computer to India?

I have a compaq desktop.Will that work in India? Do I need to buy a voltage converter for that? I am already taking few other electronic items that need voltage conversion . If I take the desktop to India, I will be just increasing the number of voltage converters at home in India.

Just curious. While you are sending money to India, how do you ensure you are getting the best conversion rate? Do you refer to any websites.

REMIT2INDIA never charged me any fee for the transactions I made. while completing the transaction, the customer rep entered a promotion code and the transaction was free of cost for me. I used them 3-4 times ( always above $10K) and I wasnt charged any transaction fee.

I am not sure about periodic deposits, automatically.You will have to initiate it whenever you want. Yes, they do deposit directly to your indian account.They are very(too much?) customer friendly. Just call their 1-800 number.Customer reps will walk you thru application process and answer any ...

Best option would be to create an account with REMIT2INDIA.com and use their service to move money to the home address in India.REMIT2INDIA would send demand drafts if you provide address.
