Benefits of Capital Gains deferral

Thanks for your Response Desi. I realize I forgot to mention a critical point: the property is not their primary home, so unfortunately they would not qualify for the exclusions. Assuming cap gains is due, do you have any further ideas in the scenario I described?

Thanks again for your response.

Benefits of Capital Gains deferral

I'm negotiating a seller financing deal for purchasing a property. The sellers are an older couple. They have requested me to outline for them examples of the benefits of deferring Capital Gains. For example, if we negotiate a Seller Financed 30 year amortized loan, they would ...

Ideas on where to short-term park $500k cash?

Thanks everyone for contributing. I hadn't considered possibility of gifting the money to a minor, but as Desi points out, this won't work very well for my situation. Basically, I had come to the similar conclusion that gwldaddu mentioned which is to put it in two savings bank accounts at a local ...

Where to short-term park $500k cash?

Hi all, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask to see if anyone could suggest ideas I hadn't considered.

I'm waiting for a property deal to come through that will likely take 2-3 months. While I wait, does anyone have suggestions on where I could park about $500k cash?

Thanks.

Self-directed IRAs and purchasing India property
It appears that RBI closed the above route in 2003. At my leisure, I will try to explore another route - the FII route.
Bobus, how did you research this? Does RBI publish their rules somewhere?

Also, it would be great if you can share some of the gotchas/weak-links you discovered during your research. I'm sure those would be immensely useful to me and others on the forum. Thanks!

Self-directed IRAs and purchasing India property

Regarding #31:
I thought you propose to continuously swap the RE and never liquidate...
