I think you should move back to USA. Since you have done r2i once and you can do it again when you want to. From kids perspective it sounds like a good plan.

For kid like you the experience of heading back and seeing life there up close will be a great experience. You may not get another opportunity like this to explore. Do it.

Reach out to companies here and line up an assignment. Much easier that way.
