401K withdrawal plan - GC holder

Desi, I have a question. Wouldn't GOI tax on the RSUs/Options vesting even during RNOR period. I was thinking even though these RSUs/Options were granted in USA, but the OP will be working in India at the time they vest and subject to GOI taxes irrespective of Resident status as the income is tied ...

MT: Tax for US Citizen living in India

Kirks, Thank you so much for your response. That was my first hunch that India Taxes are much higher, but was not sure with the allowances etc., what would be final taxes. Regarding payment of differences - They will deduct the India taxes from my pay check similar to any other India employee. But ...

MT: Tax for US Citizen living in India

Bobus, Desi, RRK, anyone? Is this question too complex requiring a personal tax consultant or did I post in the wrong thread. Just trying to get some input as I need to make that decision soon. Based on what I know so far, I am leaning towards availing tax equilization option but was not 100% sure ...

RNOR Calculator - Find your RNOR status

Thanks Gurusw, but is it that simple? By reading various threads it sounds like, if your status is ROR you pay taxes in USA, and take the credit for India taxes (assuming they are more) to the extent of taxes paid in USA. Am I wrong?

Gross income for Indian taxes using W2

If you stay on US payroll, the company has to pay the employer portion of social security and medicare taxes in USA (~8%). I was told that they also need to pay 12% towards provident fund when you work in India. Is your company willing to do that? Similarly you need to pay the employee portions 8 ...

RNOR Calculator - Find your RNOR status

We are planning to R2I in July 2011. I will be working with the Indian subsidary of my current company. From the RNOR calculator, it looks like I will have RNOR status for 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and 2013-2014. Say, if we decide to R2A after 3 years in India, in July 2014. That means that I would have ...

Schools Near Marthahalli

Hi mkitvp, What other schools did you consider before deciding on Gopalan? We have kids going to 6th and 1st grades, we shortlisted Ebenezer and Greenwood. My office is on ORR close to Marhahalli, so Gopalan can be an option also. I just wanted to get your feedback on what other schools you visited ...

Cyberabadi, Have a follow-up question. 1. So, from GOI perspective the taxable income is 15 lakhs. The company does not provide any information on the 5 lakhs which was reimbursed to employee as a tax free allowance? 2. Evaluate this offer please !

Hi Cyberabadi, I have never worked in India, and have a question on how the income is reported in India. Say my basic is 10 lakhs, and allowances are 10 lakhs. If I use 5 lakhs of those allowances, my taxable income will be 15 lakhs. On the year end tax form (W2 equivalent in India) would they show ...
