Welcome. maybe you will be the catalyst for R2I meetings in the area.

Unfortunately, my shipper does not operate in usa. I paid them the insurance premium. They did not. When I claimed (minor damage, a few thousand) and they reimbursed me from the premium received. All kosher.
According to them, the damage is usually minor and not worth their going to an insurance company. Of course if the ship sinks or the container tips over, they and up reimbursing the client. You can say that they are self reinsuring.
