Treatment of distributions from 403(b) plans in the US, in India

Post by kpsridharan »

Sir, I am a US citizen I retired from service in US academia in 2011 and returned to Bangalore same year. Since them I have been filing US and India income tax returns. I declared social security earnings to Indian tax authorities in my filings as they come under exempt category. This year I have received minimum required distributions from my 403(b) plan and will be taxed n the US. The funds are invested in a self managed IRA account. How would this come be treated? Would I be taxed for the entire amount? How to go about it? Please guide me in this matter. K.P.sridharan
