What are the industry practices for salary in India in case of internal transfer within the company?

Depends really on the company. While a majority of the larger/mid-size companies will try to adjust your salary into the "band" (of course they will consider your US experience), the smaller startups with good funding are willing to negotiate closer to your US pay.
For me I am in the process of negotiating an internal move and my company seems to be in favor of a slope adjustment in my salary after I move. First year salary will be close to my US salary, and then each year, they will adjust to close in towards the Indian bands.
