are you india and how has the experience been, wrt your son and your family.
r2hyd2011;251996I am in mid 30s. We have a 2.5 year old Son. I am on H1. I-140 is pending for about 4 years:emsmile:. We were Orginally Planning for R2I in 2011 irrespective of GC status.
Now we are contemplating on R2I "Right Now".
My wife was always in favor of R2I. In fact she was the decision maker in our case and i gladly agreed with her decision. Both of us are not good at making new friends and we thought it's better for us to live in India where atleast we have our immediate families(brothers and sisters) and some of our old friends.
Though we do not have tons of money:emwink:, Money is not a major issue in our decision making. Both of us are fine to R2I today, though it will need some compromises in buying house, Car etc...I work in an ERP in a Technical Role where Job Oppurtunities seems to be scarse in Hyderabad. But i will defintely get a job(Though it may not be as good as my current one).
Now we are encountered with a much bigger issue than R2I. That's our Only Kid's Developmental issues.
He is 2.5 years old. Initially we thought the development issues can be overcome with Early intervention. But the Early Intervention in US didn't help him and he is lagging more and more in development. We Consulted several pediatricians, Neuorologists, Genetics etc.. So far there is no Diagnosis. But all the doctors we showed in India are unanimous in telling us that the child has nuerological problems and is most likely to be "Not a normal kid". Some went to the extent of saying the kid is likey to be "Mentally retarded". In US they are just telling us to "Prepare for the worst" and "Hope for the Best".
We consulted Several doctors in India including Doctors in Rainbow hospital which is supposed to be the best in Child care in Hyderabad. What we observed in our recent visit to Hyderabad is that the Medical facilities are still not up to the US Standards( I think they are lagging by atleast 4-5 years in case of Genetics and to some extent in Pediatric Neurology).
Looking at this lag in medical facilities in India, we are wondering whether we should stay in US to get an oppurtunity to treat our kid or Just R2I today.
Here are my random thoughts.
1. We are Going through Lot of Stress with Kids development. We do not have any Family in US and none of our Parents are intersted in Travelling to US(we have strong reasons for that). We think we may go mad one day if we continue living in US:emwink:.
2. In India the family support will be better. If it's in India Both my Parents and In-Laws are willing to live with us for most of the time. This will help us to get through our frustrations/relive some stress.
3. The modern science do not seem to have much help either(Looking at the last 1+ years in US). The only hope for staying in US is that we may be able to grab oppurtunties immediately if there is any new research to help my kid.
3. Our son is Staying in India for about 2 months and he seems to be more active(though it didn't translate into anything significant in terms of development) in the presence of more people. Though he goes to a special needs School in US, i didn't see that kind of activeness in US(Probably the family is more caring where as the school is more professional).
4. Though the Medical facilities are lagging for now i hope indian doctors will catch up with the latest research in the days ahead and the gap will narrow down. In such case India will be a better option as we get to stay with family, Kid may pick up in a better environment, We can try Ayurveda, Homeopathy as well.
5. Sensitiveness of the Society: USA is defintely better here. Iam sure we will face lot of insensive people in India. So far we faced two Insensitive Pediatricians in India, who we were very rude to suggest us that our kid needs to be in "Mentally retarded" facilitiy. Even if it is inevitable it's better to explain it professionally, but some doctors are very rude. Corporate hospitals and specialists seems to be better in handling these issues in India.
The only reason we may want to stay any longer in US is to see if US has better oppurtunities in diagnosis/cure in future.
My wife and kid are currently in India and she asked me to pack our bags and come to India:emsmile:.
Appreciate your comments/suggestions. I just want to see different Point of views before taking the final decision.

I wish and pray that everything turns out good for your child -- I think you will have better social infrastructure with r2i, other than that US is more accommodation. Do what you feel best and please don't stress out. God bless your son and give strength to you and your family.
