Hi,
First of all, thanks for the great forum - have been a regular reader for a while now.

We are now planning to R2I sometime in August-Sept this year. Process of a long deliberation (like many others)

This happens to be in the middle of regular school year in India. My older daughter will be in 4th grade (younger one will be attending KG). So, few questions:

- any experience in putting a kid through 4th grade in the middle of school year?
- Should we consider International school as the school starts there from Aug-Sept?
- My primary concern is the second language. Few schools in Bangalore offer Hindi and French as two options - any opinions on which language will be better for her (she knows neither - but familiar with Hindi a little).

If not international, any thoughts on school choices in Outer Ring Road / Sarjapur road area (schools that take extra efforts for kids coming in the middle of school year).

I am in the same position as you. Am moving to Sarjapur in end-July, but I am relocating from Mumbai and both my children are in ICSE schools, so know Hindi. I surveyed most of the ICSE schools in the area, and the only two which had vacancies for both were Inventure and DPS East. Went with Inventure for various reasons, primarily that they seemed keener to help my kids with the process of adjustment, plus I wanted to go with the ICSE syllabus. Inventure takes kids all year around and are understanding of transfer cases. They also offer the IGCSE syllabus. You could also consider Greenwood which takes kids in the middle of the school year, though they did not have vacancies for my daughter's grade. (STD V)

There are a bunch of other schools such as Deens, Vibgyor, Primus and so on in the area which take kids in the middle of the school year, but I have not been impressed by what I have heard of them.



I think you should prob go with French for your older daughter, but your younger one can definitely pick up Hindi. Inventure also offers Spanish.

Welcome 2 India. School Admissions for NRI's no problem. They are not expensive.

We have hoardings appear everywhere about Pre-schools, Schools etc., : So much so is the popularity of Education, there are plenty of franchises that will encourage you to start a school :

Yes, you may encounter some common phrases to shore up the importance and demand!
We all now have been conditioned to believe that the tougher it is to get admission, the better the school.

Education, schools etc are governed by choice, people go to private schools or state schools in developed countries.

International Schools are very good, the good consolation is you need not pack breakfast, lunch or snacks, they are Yummy!
the only setback is they have exams when rest of the schools and the society have holidays and due to their location the children need to spend couple of hours in travel every day:
Summer camps be it for art, culture, sport are worked around the standard school holidays which these kids miss out.
