Read quite a few diaries, but could not find one where both parents, returned to India and continue to work.
We plan to R2I next year (a case of n+1), and both of us would like to keep our jobs. We have two kids 8 & 4.
We will simplify it by working for same US employer ( a super large bay area company with super large bangalore presence).
Anyone in similar boat - would like to hear the R2I working parents perspective.... special emphasis on working mom.
thanks

I guess most r2iers move on as life is busy in India. If both are working, there's not much spare time.. Based on our brief r2i experience few years ago, i would summarize as follows.
Stay super close to work.. Particularly the mother's workplace. This helps a lot as the main challenge is time management and scheduling around the kid's school and activities.
Kids will have some adjustment phase in school. So choosing a good school is critical. Stay in a large apt. complex. They'll make lot of friends.
My parents lived with us which helped big time since there are very few options for after-school care. This will be challenge for your 4 year old..
Find out a pediatrician first..
If you both will continue to work for the current employer, it makes the transition a lot easier..
Good Luck !

thanks for your responses...
Any issues with "inflexible" work? Also if you dont have parents/inlaws around, who picks up kids when they come back from school. Our 4yr old will return by 1PM (I guess).
And how are kids coping without "extra" attention from parents? Did they settle fine?

I think after school activities in the school itself will function as a daycare especially at the international schools.

I know a family, the wife worked perhaps for the same employer you are talking about. The husband found a job with another super large company in bangalore and both are working. It is rare but not uncommon. Totally depends on how the career paths are shaping up. If the wife is a career woman on her way to becoming a VP in the future, i'd doubt she'd want to throw her career in the mud just because she now lives in India and not the US.

My wife and I continue to work after r2i. We relocated from Bay area to Bangalore a year back.
