I am a US citizen of Indian origin, planning to settle in India for retirement next year. I have OCI and a permanent visa. Questions:

1. Are there any legal formalities before returning to India?- like any other permits etc
2. Am I eligible for a Transfer of Residence ceritificate to save on Duties ?
( my querriy over e-mail to the consulate office has not been answered yet)
If i am eligilble - what is a quickest way to go about it?

Yes, Yes. Simple question. If you have OCI, no other formalities, done. When you arrive in India, you can say you are coming as Transfer of residence. No difficulty there also.
