word of caution for serious r2i candidates

I don't feel like visiting this forum any more. so much negativity
about India in this forum it makes me feel sick.

Most of the guys in this forum are probably here only to get sadistic
pleasure at how bad things are in India. India is really really lucky
that these guys are no more in India.

To all serious r2i candidates I will say going forward things are
looking very positive for India.

If you are serious about r2i you must

1. Do thorough research by actually spending good amount of time in
India before actual r2i.
2.Consult with people who are living in India and/or who have
r2i ed for atleast 4-5 yrs.
3. Don't rely on advice of NRIs who are away from India >10 yrs.
They have lost touch with India and will misguide you.

Personally after staying in US for 11 yrs and now in India for many yrs
I am very happy that I decided to r2i.

India is a land of opportunity for investors, doctors, finance pros, architects, civil engs for that
matter any ambitious hard working pro.

Hello Sir,
Please do not generalize anyone in this forum.

Here many of us R2id and R2A including myself who r2ied for 5years and came back.

"NRIs" did not come from any other world, they are from India only but each one express their opinions based on their personal experiences. They are not forcing anyone not to R2i.

Many "NRIs" have much more information about the economy, changing trends as well feel of best of both worlds.

So no one is misguiding in this forum.. Just take it or leave it...

If you are happy with R2i, Good for you.. Keep it up and share your positive thoughts than criticizing the forum.

Can you list out the negativity of the India part? I don't recall any such thing, maybe I don't read all the threads.
Unless they are fabrication, shouldn't facts be brought out?
Same story about US too, there are lot of bad stuff in USA and refer to USA Bashing thread.

I R2Ied and R2Aed and I see lot of negative stuff in India too - roads, infra, cleanliness etc. But boy did I enjoy my life there? Wish I had got a good job, not some high paying 30L+ job, even 12-18L job and I would be happily whistling in my tier 3 city!

  • I guess you don't read much of the posts of members who are in support of r2i :)
  • I have posted this umpteen number of times but here is one more time - when you got to a restaurant you usually ask for a feedback form to complain when the service is bad/pathetic. When the service is good/acceptable levels you don't complain. Same applies here. People who have faced problems complain. If things are fine, you don't bother usually
  • Life in India takes a toll on you. It is difficult to find time to post. I have posted more from New Jersey in this forum (2000 posts in 3 years ) and around 2,500 posts after r2i in 7 years. I had a full time job in NJ and have been out of work mostly in India :)
  • Once you settle down with regards to schooling, your job there might be not be much things which attract you here ( unless you are a regular in Sports / Politics / Banter threads).
  • There was a thread by suba where the % was more on the side of people who are happy with r2i.
  • I don't find anything wrong in pointing out the negatives in India. Unless you identify the negatives, how are you going to improve?

True. We find enough time even after working for 8 hours. We have entire weekends, holidays and as ALIBABA CEO says, we have 6hrs left in a day to improve on many things after work which was not possible in India.

In contrast, India work lifestyle was - missing dinners, long hours of work and tons of documentation (not sure why till now) but positives were lot of cultural activities within organization during festivals which I miss and exceptionally ONe thing I miss is ANNUAL EVENT where you can participate in many programs, recognition awards and respect you get based on your TITLE !!!!

YES. USA gives NRIs lot of time and those who leverage effectively are enjoying best outdoor life style like trekking, travelling, mountaineering, biking, career advancing by learning new technologies apart from POTLUCK social life:)

You like USA that is fine. I myself still today cherish my time in US.

But denigrating India at every opportunity? That I find really disgusting.

If you hate India so much (many in this forum surely does at least that is
what one infers from posts) then why are you even bothered about whether
others want to r2i? Just forget India (it is too bad for you isn't it) and spend
time doing whatever you want in your land of dream USA.

Here we have many who hate India with all there heart and soul and only reason
why they come here is to get satisfaction at how bad things are in India, jump with
joy on reading post of some r2i failure stories.
I wonder what is the reason for this sadistic and macabre trait. How can a person
hate the country of their birth so much?

I can understand that you are USC and America is everything to you but why
for God shake why you have such malice and hatred for India?

PS: If you are in IT things are bad in India and surely will get worse (unless you
have exposure in analytics/AI/ML/solid computing/programming)but in 2 - 3 yrs things will be horrible
in US (massive firing will be there). I had a conversation with my friend who is a very big shot
in a top PE firm few days back. The kind of valuation bubble(crazy crazy leverage ... QE has created the
mother of all bubble in PE/VC) that is there in silicon valley is insane. PE/VCs
are going to loose there pants.Silicon Valley may turn into valley of horror very soon.
If you are in IT you need to know computing really well. For those with shallow knowledge days are over for
you. Upgrade real fast or be prepared to go and stand in unemployment queue.

AUTOMATION --- AUTOMATION -- AUTOMATION everywhere...

IT automation
Business Operations Automation -- Banking, healthcare, Manufacturing etc
Front office\Backoffice Automation
Bots run everything as they say ...

But there is always room for new jobs where human interference is necessary. WORLD DO NOT END THIS WAY....

If nothing works, Agriculture or farming with automation can be best bet.

While these developments are happening outside world, India has more opportunities all along to get automated within the country, so there will be more opportunities if one thinks of potential around legacy systems. Forget projects from USA but run projects within Indian banking, healthcare, manufacturing.. Potential is so enormous for automation that jobs will be plenty. Instead of looking for projects from other countries MAKE INDIA is the best policy. So losing heart does'nt work but rather be creative.

SURVIVAL THE FITTEST...

FYI.. NRIs many are already in unemployment Queue ahead of Indian counterparts. There are no jobs for GC\USC or whoever does'nt matter in the current USA market. I have my colleagues who did not upgrade hunting for jobs last 6-8 months mostly middle or Senior management. Situation is already bad for many, no matter what is the visa status in USA. They already lost their pants but having suspenders like USC\GC to hang on, upgrade or take low paid jobs.
USC or GC has to struggle in the high volatile technological markets today even in USA. No need to wait for 2 yrs or more.

Basically, when it comes to employment situation India or USA -- everyone has to fight until you semi retire or quit IT. No guarantee anywhere.

My friend,
No hatred towards India or love towards USA. We want to live and feed our families, so grab the opportunity whatever works better. Nothing wrong. Family first, Country Next when it comes to survival (bitter truth).
Do not look us negatively as we do not hate INDIA and struggle everyday to meet our ends. COUNTRY is emotional while SURVIVAL is truth.

This forum is one area which gives us a relief to vent out our opinions positively or negatively - point of stress buster.

Take it easy...

The bubble is extreme. Way way worse than dotcom .... people don't realize how bad it is
as mostly it is PE/VC money. But PE/VC are the most tough guys.

PE/VC will do anything to get back there money .... So Silicon Valley will be in extreme pain
for many yrs I think. I won't be surprised if 40-50% startups close shop over next 3-4 yrs in
Silicon Valley. Things are really really bad.
