The question i have is if i get an REP for 2 years.. when does the RNOR status start? Is it after i surrender my GC? How to go about getting the RNOR status?

RNOR status has nothing to do with your GC or when you surrender it. It is dependent on when you land in India and how long you have spent away before moving back for good. I believe there is a good RNOR calculator on the forum you can search for.
