okonomi;569009Perhaps the reason why some do not wish to R2I is because they hate their families. Mummy and daddy, and all their aunties and uncles. They are happy being away from that lot, and will be glad never to see any of those faces ever again. how is that for a reason to fail at R2I ?
I have seen people not wanting take-up ownership/responsibility.. they are just too damn scared that responsibilities will be forced on them, if they return. But, this same set expect the same of their kids in Lala land. :)

I missed this post earlier. Your analysis is 100% true for most of the folks I know in US. These folks have their own way of putting it:
1. Parents don't have anything common with us
2. India relatives and parents interfere a lot
3. Parents never appreciate what we achieved and hence it is difficult to get along
ironically as some one else pointed out that these folks expectations from their kids is "my kids will be like my friends ". They feel kids can be their friends because as parents they will be understanding , cool, etc!
I feel such parents are in their dreamland.

okonomi;565198I like that thread title" "Major reason(s) why R2I could not be achieved by you...."
My choice (in the poll) is that I had done it... it was fun, exhilarating etc... And then, we had to deal with reality. As that famous movie title had said, it is not a place for old folks.
Would you please elaborate?
On another note, just watch how Indian TV channels have been reporting the Air Asia tragedy. The "who cares" attitudes and smiles on the reporters' faces say it all. This lack of empathy can also be seen often among the general population toward others, in many a human tragedy, toward the physically and mentally challenged, etc. etc.

Well I'm Indian I care a lot because dying in a plane crash like in Air Asia is one of the worst ways to die. Those families were in absolute hell, heck one lady lost half her family on that plane, and I always have remind myself that I need to appreciate and be thankful for what I have because it may as well happen to someone I know as well. You just never know. I completely agree, and it's such a shame. Even Indians normally don't "care" for Indians of other states except the people of their own state. I guarantee you, if there was a victim on that plane who was of the same state and ethnic background as the reporters, it'd be a huge deal. Perhaps the only reason they report this is probably because there is nothing else to report about. But Indians are not the only ones, almost everyone does not care. Looks like humanity and sense of love and compassion for people besides your "own people" is becoming extinct.
