We have R2Ied few months back from Il, US. I had prepared a will (thru LegalZoom), got it notarized etc, before we returned to India. Does that will applicable now? As far as I know, the will has to be prepared again if we move from one state to another within US. Please share your knowledge!
Thanks,
THB

yes wills are state specific. Have a mandate holder or death beneficiary set on each and every financial account you have. then have a will done in India in any case. A mandate holder overrides a will. this should have you covered.

nanad,
what in case of both parents die in some accident. Whom should we put as a
death beneficiary to pass on the assets to kids? Can a non-USC person (uncle or someone lives in india) be a second death beneficiary to take control of U.S assets?
Thanks.

different banks have different forms, but I have seen most of them with the option to designate a primary and a secondary beneficiary. In 401K you can even say 50% to spouse and 50% to father. the will should back you up. If you move around then changing the will eveyr time is a pain.

Can any of you tell me what is the best way to do a will in USA? Is LegalZoom a good one or is there anything better? Can everything be done online?
Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread. Thanks in advance.
