Obviously everyone thinks about this differently, but I am visiting India after a 7 year gap ( 15+ years in US) & here are some of my observations about these two, very interesting countries.

I am just posting it here, as it might help someone, in someway.

Good Things about India 1. Spiritual Heritage - If you are inclined in that direction, you can sense the undercurrents of a rich spiritual tradition.
2. Heart Centric Emotionally Driven Society - People feel and express an abundance of loving, affectionate emotions & feelings.
3. Proximity to parents, relatives and old friends
4. Cheap Labor to make life easy - daily chores taken care of
5. Opens up the world - Australia, Europe, East Asia & the Gulf are all accessible

Bad Things about India
1. Very dirty, over-population, Extreme poverty. Poor standard of living.
2. Emotionally driven Society - People are more gossipy, jealous & envious
3. Safety - Law & Order and Health care is unreliable
4. Lack of top class facilities - like Parks & Libraries, etc.
5. Harder to make any fun short trips - as Roads, Rails and Traffic conditions are tough.

Good Things about the US
1. Clean & well organized Structure.
2. Access to the finest amenities like parks, libraries etc.
3. Scope for professional Growth & Wealth accumulation
4. Safety - Law & order and Health care is excellent
5. Friendly & Polite Society.

Bad Things about the US
1. Life is Mechanical, robotic. Very head centered/overly practical society
2.Overly Liberal Views - Objectify women, excessive focus on Intimate relationships only, with the exclusion of other relations.
3.Cut off from the rest of the world.
4. Loneliness; Very individualistic society with not enough connections, leading to feelings of isolation & one of the highest suicide rates in the developed world

This is an excellent summary. Every single point is correct, especially points number 2 for both the "Pros" and "Cons" of India.

The only points I would add as positives for India is the tropical weather, flora and fauna and the food.

Edit: I would disagree somewhat with points number 2 under "Good things about US" and "Bad Things about US". Since I only feel alive in the presence of Indian flora, fauna and landscape, I prefer Indian parks and when I say "parks" I am only really referring to one, which is Lodhi Garden in Delhi. It is the only decent park I have visited in my life. Same with libraries, I am only really interested in books about India written by Indian authors. I am most likely to encounter these in India, so I guess I would prefer Indian libraries. I don't want to go to the "South Asia" section to get what I want. But yes, I agree I find Western libraries better organised and easier to navigate than the emotional, mercurial and feudal Indians who treat you on the basis of your status, the relationship you have with them rather than your status as customer or library member.

Some things are both good and bad as exemplified by point number two under the pros and cons of India.

End of the day, you need to be a global citizen to get the good of both worlds.
How you balance it is up to you :)

Nicely summarized. It's like your brain says USA (or any other country) but your heart says India. Both have their pros and cons but the ultimate choice should be made keeping in mind the future prospects. You need to be more forward looking, especially with respect to what kind of life you want to have for your kids. It's a tough choice.

I would have to say that you very wrong specially in good thing about US. I agree with only point 1 that is about cleanliness and well organized. Let talk about other things. I am talking from the perspective of life that people like us live in India.

Health care in India is very much par with USA. Look at Columbia Asia, Sakra and Manipal hospitals in BLR and they have almost all latest equipment. I have experience the hospitals in USA (My kids are born in US) and here in India and i can say there is not much difference. Doctors in india are also quite skilled.
Safety - Personally i feel more safe in India than USA. Can you walk or riding public transport in USA without being feared after dark or late night?? US is absolutely not safe unless you are in your car. I personally experience a bad incident when i visited US for 2 weeks recently where 2 folks started yelling and fighting each other in light rail. specially freely available guns make it very bad. Very common shooting in schools makes me wonder more.
3. Scope for professional Growth & Wealth accumulation
Completely disagree. Growth path is mostly none until you get GC which takes years to come. There are some exceptions to this but mostly true. Wealth - American life is pretty expensive if you really want to live a dream american life. Buying, maintaining house, kids school (in case private) and college, medical expenses, decent daily life, good car ( not honda civic, accord :) )etc comes with cost. Search google for medical expenses after retirement in USA and you will know how much you need to save for retirement in USA. That will make you crazy.
2. Access to the finest amenities like parks, libraries etc.
Search Prestige Shantiniketan, Manrti Epsana, Purava Fountain square, Adarsh Palm Retreat, Adarsh Palm Meadow in bangalore and you will get your answers. Try to look at images of club houses of these societies and you will get your answer. You will not get such great amenities in USA easily. These are only few handful of great society i have listed, there are many more.
Friendly & Polite Society
Ask for some help from your neighbors and then evaluate how friendly and polite society is in USA. Only Hi and Hello does not make a society a friendly. You can feel even at work if you at leadership position - there is always a very dirty politics and people show their true faces. Most of the Indian remain IC there due to GC wait time etc so do not experience this.

I do not want to talk about good things that is there about India. There are more compared to what you listed above.

How about we write pros and cons assuming you have US citizenship and Indian OCI, forget about the immigration issue.
Also how about you remove the social thing out of the picture, it mainly depends on person to person, if you dont know how to be a Roman in Rome - I dont think that's a problem of the location/country/state, its like me going to Tamil Nadu and complaining that nobody speak Hindi.

Heck even Nigerians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis etc love their country does not make it an objective comparison, does it.

It will be a major achievement for humans if they learn to deal with illogical emotions and become objective in their thoughts. This debate is similar to Rupee is going to appreciate any day by so many people who refuse to look at data and think objectively.

If it is good...then adapt.
If it is bad....then reject....very simple.

Also, current trend is very important. GC less life isn't that good in US.
Life in India is better if you saved enough while in US.

Why is it that GC less life alternative is India? Why don't people talk about Canada and Australia as alternatives? I don't get it.
