Single-most Frightful Reason which de-motivates R2I

I was thinking of a poll with reasons that sometimes could de-motivate our R2I plans.

These reasons may/may not stop us from R2Ing, but, if we bring those reasons out and discuss them, may be we can be better prepared to handle when we R2I.

We could hear from our R2Ied member’s experiences on how they handled the situation they may have faced. Also, hear from R2Iing members if the reasons crossed their minds and their thoughts on it

Some frightful reasons I could think of are:

Traffic
Pollution
Loss of Privacy
Goondagiri (I am planning to enroll in Karv Maga Classes, Israeli art of close combat :) )
Corruption
Health Care
Cost of living
Quality of living
Cost of Real Estate
Education System
Political mess

Add to the list and we can create a poll.

What do you guys think?

Water. The paucity of it scares me. Everytime I let the faucet run, wasting water, makes me think about what would be the case in India. I guess my moms words about not wasting water have gotten embedded in my subconscious.

Very well thought.

We are all planning to R2I expecting to face some hardships, many positive thoughts, emotions/sentiment etc. etc. Still there will be those few unexpected events/situations. Stopping short of comparing with the country we are returning from, how do we train ourselves to be honest and strong to face the events as they come by and address them as they are??

Any wisdom that can be shared by R2I pro's is appreciated, from their personal experiences - on how they faced the unexpected.

Thanks.

If LIA is like the Olympic sized heated swimming pool, R2I is like the cold waters of a spring.... which you are hesitant to jump in initially, painfully cold immediately, and fun eventually! ( make sure you know how to swim or carry a life jacket - atleast own a house/apptmt. where you want to settle down and have a minimum of financial reserve cushion... unless you are braveheart!)

Healthcare is definitely not a frightful reason. Healthcare is much better in India than in USA. Go to any major hospital in metros you will see Americans and Europeans lining up for major surgeries etc for a fraction of the cost in USA or Europe. I have a dozen doctors close to my house from pediatricians to ENT specialists, you dont need paperwork, you don't need appointments, you don't have to wait for hours, you don't have to endure nonsense like height weight measurements everytime, you don't need referrals for specialists or for second opinions.

For me its got to be Narrow Parochial politics stoking regionalism of the likes of Raj Thackeray in Maharashtra and KRV in Karnataka. Extremely scary. Terrorising people in the name of regional interests. Is anybody safe? Can anybody local or outsider fight / explain himself to an enraged, worked into a frenzy mob. I don't think so.

Health care may be better in India, but, there are many instances of duplicate drugs, improperly recycled and unsterelized equipments

You call this healthcare?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7223157.stm

Healthcare in both countries are for people who can afford it and have good insurance.

Unfortunately in India - there are millions who do not have access to any healthcare.

In India you have to pay upfront - ain't no hospital will admit you or give you treatment without you footing the bill first. Not so in US, if it is an emergency the law says, that every citizen has a right to get the proper treatment. Collecting on the bills comes afterwards.

Few Indian doctors will provide treatment for charity. There are hundreds of American doctors (including Indians who are now in US as doctors) who will forego payments and or provide charity work.

Having to face beggers and enuchs at every corner (esp in mumbai). Btw they have turned quite hostile in last few years. The only way to get rid of them is to give them money. And they won't take Rs 1 or 2. The coins will get thrown back at your face.
