Everyone agrees that R2I is a rollar coaster ride both mentally and physically and leaves scars deep in the mind which manifest in the form of silly dreams.
While in the US especially several months after returning from India, I used to get dreams of boarding a trans atlantic or pacific flight to India or being and living in India.
While physically in India I would pinch myself to be sure that I was in India and every moment in India seemed very valuable. I would try to "memorize" the feeling of being in India so I could reproduce it in my mind whenever I feel like going to India, while in the USA (seems strange huh?).
However after R2Iing to my surprise, the opposite is true, now I very often dream about living in the USA, some of these dreams are strange, funny and silly to the point of being ridiculous, but they do bring out our inner feelings. Here are some sample dreams:
1. I often see the house I where I lived in the USA, feel the backyard, luxury cars parked on my driveway etc.
2. Sometimes I am driving on a freeway in the USA which surprisingly "exits" to a crowded street in India.
3. I am driving around in India traffic, suddenly I see a huge open parking lot and a Costco store sitting in the middle and all the white people pushing their trolleys towards the store and I get excited and I am trying to look for a parking spot and then I wake up in disappointment.
4. There is a wormhole, one side of which is Los Angeles and the other side is Chennai and I conveniently jump in and out (how is that?)
I am sure most of us have had similar dreams, why not discuss it just for fun?

you can make a movie out of your dreams - it's very interesting.
few times I did day-dream about being in US, but don't recollect having any real dreams about it.
keep posting.

Though a funny dream, I must say this happens to everyone who has been attached to a place and move to a different place.
Sometimes it seems not much different from one place to another. In US most of them feel they are in US only when they are out of the house, inside the house its the same with the family whether you be in india or US.

All within a tiny spec of dust called Earth. What will happen if people start moving to say other planets?

They will say "Phone Home" as in the Movie ET:emwink:
I do get dreams about America after R2Iing but they are mostly confined to be playing/coaching for my beloved Philly sports teams(Eagles/76ers/Flyers):emteeth: and make them win atleast one championship for that championship starved city....

Rajram123,
The silver lining is you are getting good night sleep with all the problems you are encountering in India and you getting dreams is a good indicator of that. :). Keep it up.

I think it may also have to do with the fact that we are suppressing so many feelings, compromising so much, trying to ignore too many things after R2I just to make things work. This sort of creates a pressure deep within the brain that comes out as dreams. I must say we should all cheer ourselves for R2Ing as the determination it requires is just phenominal.

I don't think I dream as much but some times do see myself in my US office setting. More frequently though, I do miss my Taco Bell. I also miss the clean law-abiding driving on US roads.

I miss Taco bell too. Being a vegetarian, its probably the only place where they don't use cheese cultured with animal enzymes. Subway is another place I miss badly. In India, subway's don't know how to bake bread properly. Even though Indianized versions are available, they lack the character found in subs in the US.

This is a clear case of a human nature, we always want change and don't value the things that come easy to us, like the saying goes ''gharki murgi daal barabar'', but once we lose it we go on a guilt trip, hence the dreams and nightmares=regret. I once made a similar move, lived in India while leaving all lose ends open for return to the UK for a couple of months. I realized although my heart craves for living in India my mind was accustomed to living in the west. After being reborn livng in an organized infrastructure it felt kind of degraging to go back to the hustle bustle and becoming part of that unorganized system. Besides all this, a major thought that changed my mind was, I didn't value something that came easy to me, hence i changed my mind and wound up the thought of ever going back(for now) to India. I said for now as I did this experiment 5 years ago and still think it was the right move to come back to the UK, i still make trips every year and haven't closed all options for a return, its the wait for when the MIND TANGOES WITH THE HEART.:emwink: .......
