Am I thinking too far? This has been bothering me since we decided to R2I next year. If the kids R2A after their marriage, should DH and myself stay back in India and visit kids in US only occasionally like our parents did? Can we not R2A as well at that point just to be around the kids and be supportive like the usual family setup in India? All this because of the privilege of having USC, social security benefits along with 401k savings.
Is there anyone else thinking like me?

There are no set rules for who should R2I and who should stay back. You and your DH need to decide what to do then. If staying near kids is a priority to you thats what you should plan then regardless of where they live. Having USC and 401K makes your move easier. SS benefits can be obtained even living in India. If your kids are too young now and if you see them getting married 20 years from now, it may be too early to think about your R2A. Might want to focus on how to make R2I work and plan accordingly. Thats where you need to focus on your energy.

Please execute R2I first. You are still in thinking mode.

Yes; there are others who spend time in the USA, as well as India. It gets easier if you have Medicare-A, and buy supplemental insurance. Perhaps by the time your children marry and move to America, there could be a new set of rules about health-insurance.
It is never too early to scheme/plan or think about strategies for life.
How close are your children to getting married ? Why would you think that they need to R2A after the marriage ? What if they marry and move to some other country or stay put in India ? What if one goes to Newzealand, and the other, to Alaska ? Global warming would make both those places quite comfortable.
