I think it is time that I seek advice from all you gurus who have already r2ied:
Summary - Got GC just 2 years back (after 8 yrs of wait)
Kid - 7 yr and 1 year old
Now to me it seems if I ever want to r2i, then this is the time because waiting for USC may be too late and it may be that then I could not r2i. My reasons :
1. parent already in 70s . I am always scared and think that it may be it will be too late and also r2i push will weaken badly without them. I very seriously think that this is the time I should be around them (if not live with them). They cannot come here because of rest of the family and other reasons.
2. kid already getting confused between home and school (two different worlds and hence not performing good). A few friends but not like her - their families do not want or care about r2i.
3. Three years later I may not be able to find job in India (IT field).

You are not alone in this situation. I can share my experience with you. After 5 years of wait in EB2, I and my wife recently received our GC. We have been contemplating R2I for over six months from now. At this point we are all set to R2I, willing to let go of the GC. At the same time I will tell you that it is one of the hardest thing (letting go of GC) to do. In my case, I and my wife arrived at that juncture after several hundred hours of analysis and discussions. We have a 2.5 year old and we want him raised in India. We also wanted to take care of our ageing parents. As you have pointed out a few years from now IT market in India may have saturated and finding a job might be even more challenging. If you wish to play it safe but not wait too long for USC, I would recommend that you apply for I-131 re-entry permit that will allow you to come back to the US for up to two years. I have heard that you can keep your GC alive by renewing the re-entry permit. But this might be an expensive proposition. In our case, we are planning to use GC as a backup for up to a year just in case if things go horrible wrong (health issues, horrible working conditions, inability to get adjusted to Indian mindset etc).

I would also suggest spending some time reading up on others' R2I diaries in order to mentally prepare yourself for what is forthcoming. Hope this helps! Good luck to you.
