Hi Folks,
2013 will be my lucky (I hope) year after all... We've always wanted to go back, but this year I got restless. First came the fallback plan - I secured admission into IIMA's 1 year MBA program, PGPX. Course starts April 2013, so the latest we'd leave the US would be Jan/Feb 2013. So that gives me 2 months to find a job (fingers crossed). Why have a plan B before plan A you ask? Well, unlike most others, I come from a traditional portfolio management/private equity background - jobs that are tough to transfer into in India. "Oasis138" gave me some hope so I still have my heart set on finding a relevant role in India. Any advice the readers might have for me would be highly appreciated.
We have moved continents a few times (NYC -> London -> Detroit) so we have some experience with the process, but not the costs - they were always borne by the company. And we have a lot of stuff over the past few years which we intend to ship. That would include all the furniture in our 2-bed besides the couches (powered recliners would unfortunately not work in India). From oasis's experience, I'd reach out to unirelo, besides the companies I have worked with in the past for my international moves.
This will be tough since our move is a little complicated... US -> Ahmedabad + Delhi -> whereever I find a job after MBA. Hence expenses are also going to be thru the roof. Any help from folks recently r2ied would be highly appreciated... especially looking back at your move, what would you have done differently?
Q for US returned folks - what have you done with your IRAs?
Will keep updating as I progress - the next few months should be action packed!
Cheers!
