Thanks to the forum, for us it has been an eye opener, since our plan to R2I was very fast.
:o I have never tried writing...this is my first blog and I hope it is readable...please bear with me. :o
We never had any R2I plans until about 6 months back. We were happy in the US, not that we did not like India, just that from the beginning we never thought of that option....In the past 10 years in US, we have lived in 3 different states.
I have learnt that wherever we live there are procs and cons and you have to learn to deal with and stay happy. (:emwink: making such statements is easier than practising :emwink: )
Both of us were working, I quit when I had my second child and have been home with the kids for a few years now. Life was normal, like most of us in the US; own a house, busy work schedule for husband, my life was driving kids to school/other activities, we had good friends and neighbours. Both of us have healthy parents in India, both our siblings are in the US and other countries...not in India.
A few months back husband's job offered to take him to HYD for a couple of years....thats when when we started thinking about the pros and cons. I started realizing that I might have a lot more to do and life would be much more interesting in HYD. Never been to HYD, basically from chennai.
Reason for not working and main driving factor to R2I:
Even though I have a lot to do at home and with the kids, sometimes I feel like I want to do something more. With husband travelling out of the coutry often, I did not have the confidence that I would be able to handle both kids very well when I dont have a decent adult conversation at home everyday. There are many who do it, but thats not me, from previous working experience I feel like I always took it out on the kids....
Even if one parent is globe trotting, me and the children will have grand parents and others around us.
We visited HYD in Dec/Jan, love the place and are working towards R2I. I am very excited about the move and looking forward to it. At the end of 2 years, we can decide / let our company know if we would like to continue there.
Daughter is almost 9 and says that she does not want to go to school in India and only wants vacations there. Almost 5 year old son repeats whatever she says. I guess they will be ok when we get there.
We are working on finding a prop managemnt company to take care of our house, thanks to nelly on his tips on this....looking for schools, rental homes in HYD.
First week of April will be our R2I.
if you got this far, thank you:emteeth:
