jaibharatmata;218957Pazham, i have been following your excellent BLOG right from the beginning and thoroughly enjoyed the reading. One thing i noticed over time is that when you started off with the positivities of r2i, your posting was quick and the content was elaborate and there was so much to read. Once you started posting the setbacks/negative side of the r2i the content has become of fewer lines and waiting period between your posts has become longer and your thoughts are also not flowing as freely. Is there a particluar reason for this or just that you are finding it tough to put it in words. I understand some situations wherein we are so very disappointed that words are hard to come by. Or maybe its just the timing.[/quote]

This is what India does to you man!
Initially you are happy and excited, but as you get settled and get in the groove, thn this is what happens. :p

tejasvee;221176our.r2i, Dutyful and bbb (did I tell you that's my favorite dish? :emwink:):
Thanks for taking time to give your feedback on my analysis. Keep such things coming! our.r2i - Please don't see the analysis as discouragement. If you see carefully the diary & my comments, I have thanked him in many cases.

Now allow me to clarify.

A diary/blog/writeup/article/biography always will have two parts.

a) Personal narrations - Like in this case, son needing antibiotics, wife disliking Chennai, services company treating badly, doing nice charity work, traveling in India, liking Connecticut work culture, photography, desire to relocate to US etc. My take is simple. Keep off the personal information as much as possible. I treat it mostly like 'none of my business' and try to keep in read only mode.

b) Comments outside personal space - These involve comments on IT industry in India, young workers' work culture, professionalism, observations about society, support staff, city, country, weather etc. My comments/analysis is aimed at only this space. I might have erred a bit here & there, as I don't have all the time in the world to do a perfect analysis, but any trespassing to (a) is unintentional.

If any of you feel that in the (b) part above, you don't see generalizations or incorrect painting of the reality, feel free to highlight which part. As a person living in India, involved with Indian IT industry, somewhat familiar with Indian society, it would be prudent for me speak up when someone is painting a poor picture of reality. Read particularly the 'generalizations in India' part of my analysis and comment on the main points. Do you really agree that people in India aren't happy with money? Do you think Indian people don't spend time with their kids? Are service organizations in India that bad that they should be termed as doghouses in capitals? Are quality of service in India that bad? Do you really believe that those with 2-5 year exp range in Indian IT industry lack professionalism that badly (if so, why is the whole world using India as it's back office today?) ? Is quality time with family such a rare commodity in India? Go on.. read each point carefully & highlight anything that is not a generalization. I am interested in learning, at what sample data level you would consider to attach 'in India' level in a statement.

Maybe I will learn something en route.

T,

I am much obliged for your sportive nature. Indeed, I feel comfortable that you have NOT taken my post any other way than just as a candid response to your post.

I have emphasized the part of your statement in bold and red. That is the CRUX of the issue for you. You feel, perceive, and believe that Some One is painting a POOR Picture of Reality!.

So, you paint another picture of the same Reality from your point of view. .

So, there you have it. Two different pictures of the same Reality.

But, the difference is that you consider your perception as Reality and is the GOOD while inferring Pazham's statements as not Reality but a poor picture of Reality. By using the word "Reality", you have unwittingly 'painted' Pazham's views as "Poor Picture" and thus UnReal.

Without rehashing the definition of a Diary or reiterating that this Thread is about Comments on Pazham's Dairy, I find that you were "pained" somehow by Pazham's personal views and felt duty-bound to "paint" a better picture and call that Reality instead of owning it as your personal view. Whether you were prudent in doing so is certainly not for me to reconfirm.

IMO, if we could see other's posts, purely, as personal views of the posters (unless it is about Science or Published Facts or such things) and not as distortions of Reality then perhaps, we will not feel the affront caused by a "poor" picture of the Reality as we perceive.

Cheers!

dasavatharam;266422we should either try to change something one at a time and do our part in our life time...like your support for OPEN.....or do nothing and go with what life offers there....or just shut up and get back to America.

While I agree with most of the post including the quoted part, I do not agree with the highlighted phrase. Everybody has a right to complain whether it should have been expected or not.

Having known OP for over 20+ years, presumably as a friend, a more appropriate medium to state your opinion would have been to take it offline! I wouldn't want a "friend" rat me out in public like the way you have!

you are probably right rimjhim.....but then none of us would have had this 80-100 pages of material from pazham's thread to read and discuss about during work hours.....lol.

Also if you can complain in public, then be ready....it does not matter if you are my friend or not if the topic that you are complaining about is near and dear to a lot of people or should I say billion+ people.

dasavatharam,

Why do you bother reading pazham's diary anyway ? Its posts like yours with the "I told you so" and "you knew that before r2i" ....that keeps several of us from posting our r2i experiances.
