Hi!
I just read about the Gurgaon master plan. They have greater gurgaon coming up. Do you all think instead of buying apartments, we all should come together buy a piece of land and built our own apartments or houses, depending on the size (group deal like RRK). This would be a 5 years project as it might take that much time for it to develovp. Till then rent an apartment in Gurgaon.I am a potential R2I to gurgaon.
Thanks,

I totally agree that instead of paying too much to these builders and then sulking over their pathetic construction quality, if we can form a 15-20 member socitey, we can do it ourselves. The problem is that there are not too many people R2Iing to Delhi NCR.

Some Questions related to USC (natural born Indian):
1- When r2i, what is his resident status in terms of Income Tax policies. An NRI, an ROR or RNOR or somethifn else?
2- What happens to NRE accounts change to NRO accounts or RFC accounts or something else?

I am planing to r2i gurgaon in December 2007. Its good to see that some of them are already their. Will some of you help me in my questions:
- What is the status of USC(natural born Indian) when rti to India. Did we still remain NRI or have some other status.
- What shipping company have you used? How you rate them?
- I have a flat in sector 43 near metro junction. Are you guys nearby?
- Any referencies for IT companies?

I would advice taking OCI which will help you live like a regular Indian without the hassles of registering with the Police for staying longer than 6 months and applying for visas. Yes, you will be treated as a NRI with OCI.
- What shipping company have you used? How you rate them?
Our company took care of it - In India Writer's worked on cutoms clearance & delivery. They have done a decent job.
- I have a flat in sector 43 near metro junction. Are you guys nearby?
We are in Sector 53, not sure where sector 43 is.
- Any referencies for IT companies?
I know few people at Genpact but there are lot of IT companies in this area.
Good luck with your relocation.

Contradiction in terms. You are either resident on Non-resident or RNOR.
Taxation is same on the Indian earned/unearned income, but foreign income is not taxed while RNOR (max 3 years. )
Above is a simplification of the status but accurate enough.
When you are resident, you can not have NRE or NRO accounts, but you can have RFC account.
