Hi,
I'm planning on applying OCI card in India as I'm already in India. Can someone please send me the link or the process on how
- Where I can download the application or fill online ( I have seen travisa but that is only when yo are submitting in US right?)
- Where to send the applicaiton
- Where should I write my Indian Address where I want them to send the OCI card to.
- I do not have PIO card.
I already have all the following documents
- Naturalization ceritficate
- PP stamped as cancelled
- US Passport
and typically how long it takes when you are applying in India.
thanks

Where are you located in India? Since you are planning to apply for OCI in India which means you are on visitor visa or so, it's going to be a bit of painful process. My strong recommendation is you go to the FRRO office personally and immediately apply for OCI before you run out of your visa stay in India or else you will have to apply for extension visa and then visit Police Station to get the clearance.... it's quite a lengthy process.
FRRO office gives the checklist document after seeing your passport in person (I applied for my kids OCI from Bangalore), If you apply for OCI with all documents to the FRRO office they verify/validate all documents submitted and then send it to MHA New Delhi for processing. Then it typically take 30-45 days, I got for my sons OCI in less than 30 days!!! The good thing is once application is submitted all the status will be sent to you on your Mobile and the approval notice will be sent via e-mail. PM me to if you need further information.
I hope this helps.....

Need Help - Applying OCI In India
thanks for the quick response..
I'm in bangalore so myself and my wife both needs to go to FRRO Office in Bangalore and apply ?
I have "Entry Visa" for 1 year expires in October 2012 - so this should give plenty of time if I apply in the next week or two.
So, can I file online application should I submit one application as family or submit 2 individual applications
Question on the address section, can I list my bangalore address ? and what proof they need ? will they question me why I'm on Entry Visa and have a proof of address like lease document etc., ?
I want to finish OCI asap for so many reasons.. thanks for your suggestions.

Applied for OCI at Hyd FRRO office recently, end-to-end it took only about 3+ weeks.

To Hangon:
1. The OCI checklist is extensive - a visit to the FRRO office will be essential. You cannot depute a proxy, will have to go in person.
2. You need to file online through the Ministry of External Affairs website - this is for a family. This application will then need to be printed out, and it becomes a part of every individual member's application.
3. You mentioned you have an entry visa, but do you have a Residential Permit? If not, apply for that FIRST! You cannot get OCI in India without an RP.
4. Yes, you have to submit local address proof. Lease agreement, utility bill, etc.
5. Applying for a child born outside India? You are screwed! They will want the birth certificate of the child certified with Apostille. If not, you have to get your consulate to verify it, then have the Ministry of External Affairs to counter-authenticate it. This is redtape at its insidious best.
6. Each application has to be submitted in triplicate.
Applied for my wife and child out of Bangalore - they sent me back 3 times, asking for some document or other.
