Do US Citizen need any document when traveling from India to Canada/ UK? Being US passport holder, I would expect that there is no additional visa requirement. Has anyone travelled from India to any one of these countries? Please share your immigration experience at departure?
One of the travel agents told me that generally people arrange their travel through US, so they don?t face any issue (I don't think that is true).I am interested to know how Mumbai immigraion handles this case. I would exepect that they are aware that US passport holders can travel to Canada/UK without any visa, but just want to make sure that indeed is the case. I have contacted Airlines as well as Mumbai Airport Immigration, but did not get any conclusive answer.Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

No issues whatsoever. I often have traveled from India to UK and other places.

The origin of your journey should not have any impact on your visa requirements. Countries that allow visa-less entry for US passport holders will still do so even if you travel from India. I am a US passport holder and recently visited Thailand without any issues. The only weird thing was upon arrival back in Mumbai, the immigration officer asked me for a departure date (presumably, being a US passport holder he expected me to return to US). When I told him that I live in India and had no plans as of now, he insisted upon a departure date. So I just said 6 months from now and he seemed satisfied with that.
